SAPUGO vs. Airtable in short

SAPUGO and Airtable both let teams build connected tables and views without code. SAPUGO charges one flat price per workspace instead of per seat, hosts every workspace in the EU on every plan, enforces permissions down to the row and field for both seeing and editing, runs business rules and ACID transactions inside every save, keeps change history for as long as the plan shows it, and goes up to 1 million records on Business. Airtable's Team plan starts at $20 per seat per month, and EU data residency needs its Enterprise Scale plan.

Why switch

Why teams move from Airtable to SAPUGO

The bill grows with every new colleague

Airtable Team starts at $20 per seat per month when billed annually, and Business at $45. Every person who needs to edit adds to the total. Every SAPUGO plan includes unlimited members for one monthly price.

Permissions that control what people see, not just edit

Airtable's field and table permissions, available from the Team plan, limit who can edit. They don't change who can see the data, so showing people only part of a base means building and sharing separate interfaces or views. In SAPUGO you set access per database, table, view, row, and field for both seeing and editing, on every plan. The AI assistant only sees what the person asking may see.

Rules that stop bad data before it is saved

Airtable automations react after a record has been saved, and during manual entry they can fire before a record is complete. SAPUGO's business rule engine runs inside the save. Computations fill in values, validations check the data, and guards block changes that aren't allowed, such as editing a completed job, all before anything is stored. Errors reject the save with a message you wrote, and warnings let it through with a note. Conditions can look at other tables, so a rule can check totals, counts, or whether related records exist.

Every save is all-or-nothing

Each save runs as one ACID database transaction. If a rule rejects a change, or a required follow-up such as creating or updating a record in another table fails, the whole save rolls back, so your data is never left half-written. Workflows started by a rule only begin after the save has committed, so they never see a record that was rolled back. For several writes inside a workflow, add a transaction step and they commit or roll back together.

Built to stay fast as your data grows

Filters, sorting, search, and permission rules run inside your workspace's own isolated database, and tables load page by page. Links between tables are indexed automatically, so related records stay quick to open. Airtable caps a base at 125,000 records on Business, counted across all its tables. SAPUGO Business goes up to 1 million records.

Your data region is a premium feature

EU data residency is only available on Airtable's Enterprise Scale plan. In SAPUGO every workspace is hosted in the EU, including the Free plan, in its own isolated database.

History that doesn't expire

Airtable keeps one year of revision history on Team and Business. SAPUGO keeps every change, visible for as long as the plan allows, plus an audit log for changes to tables, views, and permissions. How far back you can see depends on your plan.

More than a database

A shared email inbox, document templates that create quote and invoice PDFs, workflows, dashboards, and an AI assistant are built in on every plan, so you don't piece them together from extensions and other tools.

FAQ

Airtable alternative: common questions

How does SAPUGO compare to Airtable?

SAPUGO and Airtable both let teams build connected tables and views without code. SAPUGO charges one flat price per workspace instead of per seat, hosts every workspace in the EU on every plan, enforces permissions down to the row and field for both seeing and editing, runs business rules and ACID transactions inside every save, keeps change history for as long as the plan shows it, and goes up to 1 million records on Business. Airtable's Team plan starts at $20 per seat per month, and EU data residency needs its Enterprise Scale plan.

Is there a free alternative to Airtable?

Yes. SAPUGO is free to start, with unlimited members and includes every feature, including permissions down to the field, workflows, dashboards, and the AI assistant. Free has lower data limits than the paid plans.

Is SAPUGO cheaper than Airtable?

For teams where many people edit, usually yes. Airtable charges per seat, while SAPUGO charges one flat price per workspace. Every plan includes unlimited members.

Does SAPUGO have row-level and field-level permissions?

Yes, on every plan including Free. You decide who can see and edit each database, table, view, row, and field. Airtable's field and table permissions control editing only, so hiding data there means sharing separate interfaces or views.

Does SAPUGO have a business rule engine?

Yes. Rules run on the server whenever a record is created, updated, deleted, or restored, whether the change comes from the app or the API. Computations fill in values first, validations then check the data, and guards can block the change. Side effects can create or update records in other tables or start a workflow. Every rule can use conditions that look at other tables.

Are saves ACID-compliant in SAPUGO?

Yes. Each save runs as one ACID database transaction together with its rules and any required changes to other tables. If a validation or guard rejects the save, or a required follow-up fails, everything is rolled back. Workflows that a rule starts only run after the save has committed.

Is SAPUGO fast with large tables?

SAPUGO is built for it. Filters, sorting, search, and permission rules run inside your workspace's isolated database, tables load page by page, and links between tables are indexed automatically. Pro supports up to 250,000 records and Business up to 1 million, compared with Airtable's 125,000 records per base on Business.

Can I import my Airtable bases into SAPUGO?

Yes. Export each table from Airtable as a CSV file and import it into SAPUGO. Then link the tables to each other. If you'd like help, book a call and we'll go through it with you.

Where is my data stored?

In the EU, on every plan. Each workspace has its own isolated database, a change log for your records, and automatic backups.

Is there a limit on audit logs and change history?

Audit logs have no time limit. Change history on records is visible for 30 days on Free, 90 days on Plus, 1 year on Pro, and without a time limit on Business. Older history stays stored and comes back when you upgrade.
